How it works
Four steps, about a minute to set up, and no app store — snaphunts runs in the browser and installs to your home screen if you want it there.
- 1
Someone creates the hunt
The host picks the occasion, the location, and how many cards each player gets. Prompt cards are written for where you actually are — a hunt in Lisbon at dusk does not deal the same cards as a hike at dawn.
- 2
Everyone joins with a code
Players join with a six-character code or a QR link, then pick a four-digit PIN. No account, no app store, no email address.
- 3
Each player gets their own hand
Cards are dealt at random from the hunt’s pool, so no two people are hunting the same list. Every card gives you three shots — preview and retake as much as you like, but only three make it in.
- 4
The album opens at once
Nothing is visible before the reveal time. Not your photos, not anyone else’s. Then the whole album opens for everybody simultaneously.
Common questions
- Do players need to install anything?
- No. snaphunts runs in the browser. It can be installed to a home screen as a progressive web app if you want it there, but that is optional.
- What happens if I lose signal?
- Photos captured offline queue on the device and upload themselves when the connection comes back, so a hunt works in a basement bar or halfway up a trail.
- Can I see photos before the reveal?
- No, and neither can the host. That is the whole mechanic — the album is sealed until the reveal time the host set.
- How long are photos kept?
- Photos are deleted automatically a couple of days after the reveal. Download the album while it is open if you want to keep it.
